I'm in agreement with you here. I have no problem with AI image making but people are not being honest about it. There are images in the gallery that are entirely AI that are marked as partly AI and plenty of images where AI has clearly been used but which are categorised as having no AI content. This is just dishonesty and makes filtering out the AI generated images more difficult than it should be.
I come to Renderosity to see 3D work and have the AI filter on. Because of the dishonesty of some people posting here it isn't working as it should. I would prefer it if Renderosity took the route of some other 3D sites and just banned it altogether, and blocked people who do it from posting in the galleries.
I do visit and use a site for AI generated imagery, but I keep the AI stuff and the 3D stuff separate and would prefer to see no AI images on Renderosity. It isn't the right place for it.
>>> Even if you are using an AI created or enhanced backdrop/background or environment, you are still using AI in the image creation. Especially if the only part of the image not made in AI is just the figure. Even if it is a stock image background enhanced by AI, it should still be tagged as partial AI used.
This creates a bit of a dilemma. The store has many, many background images that are on the realistic side, whether they are photographs or 3D generated. They've been used for years. Photos aren't 3D either. How would using a photograph for your background be any different than using a realistically generated AI image, especially when thetre is a command in Poser and DS that allows you to render against a background image?
Ooooh, there is actually a bigger problem reltaed to this.
I posted an image in Feb 2026, and clearly stated that I used AI in the background. That was the first image I posted to my gallery since 2023 (3 years ago). I often use background images in my renders. But I noticed that the older images in my gallery have the "No AI - This artwork was created entirely by hand or with traditional digital tools" comment.
Maybe that should be worded better, because I definitely didn't make that comment myself, so I wasn't dishonest. 8-)
Images uploaded before the filter was implemented were all marked as not AI. We didn't ask artists to go back and edit their galleries as some have an enormous number of images that would need to be changed.

I'm not going to name any names here. But I spent a little time looking through the gallery today and I noticed images that are definitely using AI generated backgrounds/backdrops or environments, and yet the artists have chosen to use the No Ai in the creation tag. As someone who spends a lot of time often creating a detailed environment and lighting that is just right in my images, I feel like this is disrespectful to artists like me. You either use AI in your images or you do not. People could at least be honest about it. Even if you are using an AI created or enhanced backdrop/background or environment, you are still using AI in the image creation. Especially if the only part of the image not made in AI is just the figure. Even if it is a stock image background enhanced by AI, it should still be tagged as partial AI used.
Please don't waste my time or yours by jumping on this post and trying to explain all the benefits of AI to me. Been there. Done that. Got bored. Went back to making 3D art instead, and back to enjoying every moment of the the creation process. This thread is simply an observation about honesty when posting an image here in the gallery.
It's either made using AI in the process or it's not.
