Subject: 📢New AI Disclosure Added to Marketplace Products

We’ve updated the Marketplace to improve transparency for the community. Going forward products will now include a disclosure indicating whether AI was used in their creation or in any promotional images.

Why this change?

We’ve seen consistent feedback from members asking for clearer identification of AI-assisted content. This update is intended to:

  • Provide more transparency while browsing and shopping

  • Help you make more informed decisions

  • Reduce uncertainty around how products and promos are created

What you’ll see

  • Products will include an AI disclosure when applicable

  • This applies to both the product itself and its promotional imagery

This is not a restriction on AI content—only a disclosure to provide clearer information on what you’re viewing.

A sample image below shows how the AI disclosure will appear on product listings. We appreciate the feedback that led to this update and will continue listening as we make improvements to your Marketplace experience.

Except it's not working. Right now I checked one of the products everyone says AI was used on the promos for. It says 'no AI was used'. Right now I can't see ANY product that says AI was used. What gives??

The update is for products going forward.

so you won't be requiring vendors to go back into their store and revise the description[s]?

that can be seen as misleading, fyi... as a customer is going to see 'No AI used...' though that is inaccurate...

while i disagree with the use of AI in promo pics, i am even far more troubled by models themselves that were AI generated... usually pretty easy to spot, especially when looking at textures, but not always...

again, can we get wireframe images of models being sold as part of the promo pics as a requirement?

This is very misleading. The description above does not indicate this is merely for new products. Here:
Products will now include a disclosure indicating whether AI was used in their creation or in any promotional images.

That is NOT the same as 'products that will from this day arrive to the Marketplace'. Please clarify.

I updated the text to read - 'Going forward'

The AI Use tagging is a "Go Forward" implementation.  We did not gather AI usage data on products prior this release.  Vendors may decide to update their listings at any time, but we do not plan to require that all older products be updated.  Older products will simply display "AI Use:  No Data".

I will pass on your feedback and request for wireframe images of models.

I don't think it's specific enough. Look at https://www.renderosity.com/marketplace/products/171451/alone-in-the-dark-poses-for-genesis-9-8-81

It is marked as having AI promo images, so that's a step in the right direction. Certainly it's better than just saying Flux was used and expecting the customer to know that's AI. But I think that's being taken as a license to go overboard. There are 16 promo images. 15 of them used AI. There is one single image without AI, and it's just a collection of tiny thumbnails.

It's also being used as headline images for https://www.renderosity.com/article/31134/hameleons-new-vip-release and there's no disclosure there. And likewise at https://www.renderosity.com/news?recent

The customer needs to get a meaningful view of what the product is. I'm sure you're thinking "it's just poses" but body positioning can get shifted, especially since it says that even the clothes and hair are being added by Flux (which uses AI).

You've got to have at least some actual renders, and the images that are AI should be individually marked. Treat this the way people used to treat artistic images. They were the last thing in the product previews, and clearly labeled. What we're getting now is that the fake images are first and the actual renders are an afterthought.

Out of curiosity, will there be a change or exemption to allow a customer to return a product if they bought it before this AI transparency and those products now show that they were created with AI? Some buy products to use for commercial purposes that do not allow AI usage of any kind.

Also, will there be a way moving forward to filter out AI content for customers?

At this time, we are not planning any changes to the current refund policy related to the new AI transparency labels.

As for filtering AI content, I understand why that would be helpful. I will pass that suggestion along to the Marketplace team for consideration as we continue reviewing AI-related features and policies.
