Blacksmith3D & Texture Transformer F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 Mar 12 8:28 pm)
Hello scullygirl818,
I hope I understand your question correctly. You have to create the cr2 file. First, load V4 in Daz Studio or Poser (whichever you use), then apply the Alexis texture from Maddelirium, and SAVE that as a .CR2. Then, you can open B3D Pro-6, go to the Texture Transformer (TT) and find the cr2 (of V4 with the Alexis texture applied) that you saved. Then, you can convert that with any of V4 transformations available in TT.
Hope that answers your question, but please let me know and forgive me if I misunderstood.
Thank you. That was it. I kept trying to add it to the library and it wasn't a cr2 file. Finally figured out that I had to be in the figure library rather than where the texture was. One other question though. I know if I want other textures in the set I'm going to have to convert them. Also assuming that if I want say just the lips changed (which are pose options) that I would have to actually apply specifically the makeup options I wanted and resave the cr2, but what about something like eyes which are a separate texture? Or will those get saved with the cr2?
Hello MeInOhio ,
Just select your character in DAZ 4.9, File/Export/ select format "as cr2" in the bottom format box an type a specific name. Modify your path to a poser format runtime (ie: /My daz lybrary/Runtime/library/character/"your folder" and accept. Let poser version 9/base figure/ all the rest is grey. The rest should be already filled with your previous action (base and cr2 path)leave the rest blank and accept. It will generate a cr2.Once done, back in DAZ, in content tab, select Poser format and go to the folder you have created in Figure. Your Cr2 should be there. As genesis 3 uses a different weightmapping, you cannot create a Cr2 for it, but it works for all the previous generation. Hope it replies, Best regards,

Hello Anim8dtoon,
TT will convert a set of texture maps applied to a character. Effectively, if there are 8 Make up options for example, you will have to do 8 conversion and then create 8 V4 base sets in order to get all the options.
Hope it replies,
Best regards
Thank you so much for the clarification! Now I understand what has to be done prior to the conversion. Wish me luck!

Hello Anim8dtoon,
All my best whishes!!! Yes, it can be long if you do it on a row. Usually, i do it on demand, when i really need it. TT is going quite fast but converting a whole set could be really time consuming.
Glad thing are getting clearer,
Best regards,
Ok... I just ran TT for the first time this afternoon, creating a new V4 .cr2 file to use for the conversion, and applied Sabby's Emma Lee base MAT to her, then ran the conversion, and this is what I get-- the default V4 texture that loads with her! What am I doing wrong here? Also, take a look at the eyelashes; they came out wonky looking. Your help with this would be MUCH appreciated--thank you!

Hello Anim8dtoon,
You must save a V4 with the texture you want to convert as a cr2 at first. Then, do your conversion. Your model is a V4 with default maps, not the one you want to convert. Dawn has 2 type of eyes lash. You can set opacity to zero for the large one.
It will works this time,
Hope it replies, Best regards,
@Anim8dtoon, we have a video tutorial on YouTube that should help you with creating a new cr2 file (that is needed) for transforming textures. This should help explain the details you are wanting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NgSj5gj-Is

Fly028, thank you... I got it figured out already as a fellow Poser user in a Facebook group told me to turn off the transparency map in the Material Room, and it worked!

I know that I must be just missing a major step, but I can't figure out how to get the Texture Transformer to work, and unless I'm not looking in the right place I can't find it in the manual.
I want to convert a V4.2 texture (in this case Alexis by Maddelirium) to G2F. I don't know where to find where I am converting from as it seems the product contains textures and not any cr2 files. Do I need to convert a pz2 file? I at first thought I was supposed to choose the V4.2 character file but that only converted the base texture. I'm lost and it seems like something simple I'm somehow missing as this shouldn't be this hard.
I loaded the texture transformer through the program (I'm using 6 Pro)
