Here's what I've been doing with **BluEcho**'s other texture, just in case anyone's interested. The aim here was to make the map look completely flat, so that all the shadow in the render comes from the actual lighting. I've also replaced the lips which I didn't quite like in the original.

(Will post a render as soon as it's done.)

Wowee! Looking good!

I'm happy that my hard-drives are NOT cooked!  I stuck 'em into my trash PC, and they work at put-put speed, but they WORK! Renders will now take forever, but they work.

May not be an ocean-liner, but even a life-boat is still better than swimming with the sharks!

I'm going to bed now that that I have some kind of victory under my belt!  I still need a new PC, though. Meh, I'll get one after I get on Disability. Hooray! Happy dance time!

I really can't take credit for the materials here. I'm a compulsive tweaker, so I'm playing with the maps and the shaders and trying to figure out how to make the most of them.

Some of the VSS controls are a bit tricky to get a feeling for. So expect more test renders over the rest of the long weekend...

I much prefer the lips you've done too.
hope I can get the hang of doing the lips with shaders, it sure makes a difference.

Joel, happy to hear you got the drives working.
You should check with your local Voc Rehab, they sometimes help disabled people get computers.

K.. just woke up today and looked at the lovely skin..  looks great, Blu, thanks again for doing it.   I won't be able to play with the eyelashes any since odf changed the mapping and I can't access the version on the dev site...  so I'll go do some inkle weaving and calligraphy until I can work with current files.

It's still all a big WIP, but already she looks better than most finished figures!  Good on'ya,ODF! THAT is one fair dinkum sheila! With that face, I think hazel or brown eyes would look better,IMO. Of coure that's my 'O'. LOLOL A real stories of O's!

The lacrimals catch the light PERFECTLY! The lips do look better, so keep tweaking.

One the PC front, I do plan to meet with Voc Rehab people next week, so we'll see. I'm just happy all my info is NOT lost!  A decade of work would be a shame to lose. I wish I could back it all up, but when you're poor--if you have a PC that works at all, you're better  off than most.

Well. I jumped on the band wagon and so I'd like to provide the first set of many I'm planning for Antonia.

Included are some FBMs, some breasts morphs and some face morphs including also PixieEars ;)

Just take them as they are. As i have no testers I'd like to have some feedback.

It is a pmd injection so it will work only in P 6 and above.

JOELGLAINE:  I agree that brown eyes would look more plausible. However, I have a quite thing for dark types with blue eyes (and also fair types with brown eyes). In the end, I'll probably make the default eye color match the default skin tone, though. Which I assume will be relatively tan since most people take our Antonia as a mediterrean type and it seems harder to get realistic looking fair skin, even with VSS.

Fisty: I haven't uploaded the remapped lashes anywhere yet. If I don't get distracted too much, there will be a new public preview in my file locker shortly, including the remapped lashes and my modified version of BluEcho's textures.

Jules53757: Welcome to the gang! I've just downloaded your set and will have a play with it shortly. Now I need to go find some wings to go with those pixie ears. 😄 Send me a site mail with your email address if you want access to the dev site.

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Mon, 13 April 2009 at 5:16 PM

So is there a release date for her?

odf ( ) posted Mon, 13 April 2009 at 8:50 PM

Oh my, we're on page 50. How the heck did that happen?

Jules53757: Damn, you're fast. I better watch my back. The "blank" cr2 is indeed a good idea. But I think it might become obsolete when I upload the next preview - which I solemnly promise to do before going to bed tonight - because we've changed some of the joint parameters and, more importantly, I've added INJ/REM poses for the JCMs. That should make it easy to create a blank cr2 from the default one.

Fisty: Nice work! Is that going to be conforming or dynamic? I think it's time to let you into the developers site, so send me a site mail with your email address if you're interested.

PapaBlueMarlin: Release date? I'm afraid not. We're still in the alpha stage here, slowly moving towards beta. I'll put up a site for Antonia when it's time for a public beta, so everyone can download and play with her. As discussed earlier, the first "stable" release will be a "developers' version", and my best guess is that we'll have a developers' version with more and more add-ons until at some point we think she's complete enough to be declared final.

Hope you feel better Blu.. =(

Here's what I got done today...  I need to at least run it through a cloth sim to get some draping on it, it's very stiff looking right now, but I modeled it in like 15 minutes, no joke.   Mapping wasn't so fast.  LOL

I don't know if it will be conforming or dynamic...  could go either way at this point, but I've only succesfully rigged one stand alone figure so far so we'll see if I can figure it out.

But as most of you probably know I'm an unabashed D|S supporter so if I can get it conforming I'll be happy...

It's called Glamour Hair, it comes with D|S... I have almost no content installed, my computer failed spectacularly a couple months ago and I got new one but my main hard drive was pretty much fried, waiting on a account purchase history burn CD from Daz so I can reinstall everything.  (bangs head on desk)

So yeah.. it's pretty hair... it's the only hair I have installed right now other than the Gnomie Buns I made. ( http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?p=1583591#1583591 )

odf ( ) posted Tue, 14 April 2009 at 1:23 AM · edited Tue, 14 April 2009 at 1:38 AM

As promised, I uploaded a new Antonia preview before bed time - although not necessarily before everyones bedtime. I've uploaded identical zip files to the dev site and my file locker here in 'Rositania.

The new preview fixes the hip rotation bug and has slightly improved joint settings. The JCMs use binary morphs now and have attached INJ/REM poses (the cr2 loads them by default). The knuckle positions in the mesh are fixed so that they match the rig and the knuckles bend more smoothly. The lashes have been remapped as shown on the previous page, and I included BluEcho's texture (with my tweaks) and JOELGLAINE's expression morphs in the package.

phantom3D's improved toe morphs are not yet included. I'll add some pose files to remove the old toe morphs and replace them with the new ones as soon as I manage to motivate myself to the necessary Poser file surgery.

Edit: oh, forgot to say that I used bagginsbill's ingenious shaders for the materials.

The first two aren't different textures, just using them to illustrate the UV mapping and the material zones...  I started out just doing clothing textures for a good while before I started in on modeling so I'm really picky about the more invisible things to people who just load clothing and load a mat-pose for it.

I'm sorry about your baby...  not really anything that I can say that would make any difference at all...  so just  /hugs

@ Blue--I know that pain. It's been 26 years since my pregnant girlfriend died in a traffic accident. Pain happens in life because we survive life. It's hard to move on, because we don't really want to, but we have to. We can't and mustn't forget the good times, and the might have beens.

Just know that you aren't the only one to know that pain, or loss. There is a whole species of people just like use out here. Our shoulders are available 24hours a day,7days a week. For those of us with artist souls, we can use the pain to power our stories and art with knowledge and inspiration that others might never know, or want to know.

BluEcho: Thanks for the info! It so happens that I have some pictures of that lady in my collection of reference images. But since I renewed my subscription some time ago, I can download more.

As for the lips: as bagginsbill said, you can play with the shine parameters for the lip zone. You can also try to change the tint for the lips. Look at the VSS material set included in the new preview. For really good quality, a mask should be used to control the effect, but I've been too lazy to do that.

One thing I found is that bump maps seem to work better - as least for the lips - when you just take the desaturated color map without inverting.

bagginsbill: Is it okay if I post my modified VSS control prop for Antonia here? I've added some extra rules and templates for the toecaps and the lips, and also a rule for "mouthInner", which wasn't covered by the original rules.

momodot: Nice job playing with the scaling. I like how you made her look all bubbly in the last one. Very cute! Also good to see her in a real scene, even if it's a minimalist one.

Fisty: The hair and dress look absolutely adorable. When you linked to the hair, I had a feeling it would look great on Antonia.

I think I need to make a proper smile morph quickly. No offense to Joel, but that cartoon smile with the bendy lips looks unsettling.

Fisty: Err, yes, the JCMs for the toes are broken in this version. phantom3D actually fixed them, but I've been too lazy to mix his new morphs into the cr2. You could try to either make the toecaps invisible and ignore them (if the toes themselves don't explode) or remove the JCMs using the "--JCMs-All-REM" pose I provided. Either one should be fine for the general shape (I think). There's a small chance you might get pokethrough issues with the final morphs, but I doubt it.

Fisty ( ) posted Tue, 14 April 2009 at 11:39 PM
