Subject: hair as grass

Hi.  Maybe I missed it somewhere but is there a tutorial on how to use Carrara 6's hair module to create grass that follows a rolling hill like terrain?

Thanks,

David

All you have to do is drag the hair icon onto the terrain, and then, in the hair room, you can select the polys where you want the hair to grow, and adjust the thicknesss, length and number of hairs.

Thanks Patrick_210, I am sure I will be needing this tip also.

Any ideas for the shader setup?

I would change the color of the hairs to be green : ), then play with the bend, twist, curl, length, etc.

Yeah, but I want to make nice dead Michigan grass :)

The DCG plugin Anything Grows, still, very much, has a place in Carrara.

Anything Grows is fine for creating grass objects to replicate ( I still use it for that), but it is way to cpu intensive to compete with strand grass over a large area. It creates actual geometry. A combination  of the two is the best with strands for the main body of grass and then replicate AG objects for random weeds, etc.
