Subject: Architools a great program for make buildings but...

Architools is a great program for easily making all sorts of custom houses but the instructions suck. They need to be rewitten to make them clearer. I still would recommend this program. Here are some of my questions so far. Q: Where are the door and widows framing supposed to be in Carrara to insert them in the door and window holes? Q: In which room are the shaders place? The individual parts of a building only seem to be accessable in the modeling room but I don't see how to add the shaders.

> Q: Where are the door and widows framing supposed to be in Carrara to insert them in the door and window holes? They are not in Carrara. You import the window or door frame of your taste in the document (you can make it invisible) and than you can then choose the desired master object in the Child popup menu in the properties tray, an instance of the object will automatically be created a the hole location. The documentation ("To attach a window or door geometry to the hole, the model must first be present in the scene in the Master Object list.") leans towards advanced user lingo in this matter. > Q: In which room are the shaders place? The individual parts of a building only seem to be accessable in the modeling room but I don't see how to add the shaders. The documentation says "a shader with a Layer List of Parametric Mapping must be created." That's a bit sparse maybe. (see the above screenshot) Select the house in the assembly room, click on the Texture Room Tab (brush). Change the top shader to 'Layers list'. Choose Layers -> Basic Layer as the first shader. In 'apply to' you can choose which part of the house you want to shade. Add more 'Basic Layers' to cover all parts of the house.

Import the window or door frame into my document? Yes? I can do that. "chose the desired master object in the Child popup menu in the properties tray" ??? Can you show a picture please? Before or after you make a hole? How does it scale to fit the hole? I'll try to follow these instructions when I gett home tonight

Now you are asking stuff that is actually in the documentation... Doors & windows: http://www.inagoni.com/comment.php?comment.news.12 Shading: http://www.inagoni.com/comment.php?comment.news.23 There is a series of tutorials at: http://www.inagoni.com/comment.php?comment.news.22 Pictures and all. Good luck!

It's still not clear whats going on. The links seems to go to the same stuff thats in the documentation which to me seems not clearly written. It reads like someone from a foreign country trying to write english. I did get a little further on shading, the above diagram helped, but I could only shade one of the domains. Show me with pictures how you would do more than one domain. I did get a little bit further on putting in the window and door objects. I imported the a window into the same document as the building but I don't get how I put it in the window hole. Show me more please with lots of pictures. I'm a right brain kind of guy. Thanks

*"It's still not clear whats going on. The links seems to go to the same stuff thats in the documentation which to me seems not clearly written. It reads like someone from a foreign country trying to write english."* That is actually true, Julien Chaplier is from French, I presume. You might consider writing to julien himself. (I am Dutch so English is not my daily language) Shading multiple domains can be done after clicking the 'plus' sign under the shader tree and choosing another 'basic layer' The above picture is from Inagoni's site (the appartment tutorial, it will lead you through the steps, I think). That is where you choose your window, after selecting the right hole. Hope this helps. People tell me I use both my brain parts, so I am not sure if this is the right addition for you.

I have the shader domains worked out and can bring in premade shaders! Put still no doors and window yet. Inclosed is a picture of my first small house.

Trees have the same multilayered shaders that the buildings used. Here's another basic house with doors and windows and a better tree.
