There will also be other cool things going on at DragonCon Digital Art track! Steven Hill of binarybodies.com will be hosting a panel about getting started as a digital artist as well as running "Digital Illusions" where you can take digital photo's taken in costume and then have yourself placed in 3d backgrounds. Avery Smartcat, a dynamic educational spokes-figure, will be making his big debut at the DragonCon Parade on Saturday, Sept. 4th at 10:00a.m. (Avery Smartcat is sponsored by FXRealm Studios AB & International Media Arts, Inc. www.imediaarts.com ) DragonCon now features more chidrens activities such as Cartooning for Kids. More Art Track activities: Setting Up a Relief Sculpture Chainmail Secrets Revealed A Tail of Two Dragons Visions and Views, a journey through her work, by Anne Sudworth The Art Knife: The Passion, The Quest, The Controversy, by John Lewis Jensen Richard Herd, An Actor and his Art Emerging Artists' Salon hosted by PXG Books and Taxes for Artists Drawing and Creative Expressionism Masks of Wonder Batman Original Art Retrospective at the 5th Annual Evening of Comic, Fantasy & Illustration Art Dragon*Con Salons and Scavenger Hunts Art Show Awards, Mask Contest & Scavenger Hunt Winners Art Show Auction The 4th Annual Iron Artist Competition! There's so much going on, you really have to see it to believe it 8-)
Iron artists? You open the folder and see a rubber chicken (no bones), the Great Sphinx, and a surrey with a fringe on top... you have 45 minutes in which to make an appetising image! ...while people are watching. (at least that is how I'd set it up)
Just to let you know, The RIM team is going to be interviewing some very big names at the convention. I'm not saying who right now, but some top people will be showing up in the magazine and on our website. We are going to have reports from the field by our intrepid team that will appear on our front page...we intend to have articles non-subscribers can read, along with some special suprises for subscribers as we go along. My greatest thanks to The RIM staff who are working so hard with Renderosity to make Dragon*Con an event all members can partake in, even if you can't make it physcially to Atlanta. Be sure to check out Renderosity and The RIM daily so you don't miss out on the fun!!!
Just wanted to drop in here to offer a brief "thank you" all who dropped the booth and came to our classes. It was great to meet many of you face to face, and even greater still to have a chance both answer and ask questions of so many excellent people from the Poser community. Thanks! -Les
