Description

This was shot about 2 months ago (early December, 2003) .. we had 2 snowfalls (perhaps 6 inches accumulation) and then a rainstorm with temperatures above freezing. The result was an unusually strong flow of water in what is usually an almost dry streambed. This is a repost to change the balance between water and trees in the image. Michelle A. and Nilla gave some important advice on the issue. As an additional bonus, we now have just a little bit of light showing through the trees in the upper right. Nikon Coolpix 4300, handheld, available light, automatic exposure. Crop in Photoshop 7.0. I appreciate each and every comment that is made -- progress depends on criticism as well as praise.

Really amazing how powerful water can be... I think I said that already in the last image. But yes, I think this composition works much better....and you still have that fog/spray thing going on. :~)

Wow, I feel I should make a step back not falling in the flood! Very impressive mood! Very well done!

This is much better in my opinion, I like it much more than the first one, the turbulant water looks very dangerous, would be tragic if someone or something fell in there!

a very sensory-engagig image... it is very easy to hear the rage of the water, to feel the little bit of heavier air because of flying moisture, and the crispness of things in the nostrils...

Still can't choose if this image is better than the previous version, but let this be as it is. It's a great image and it must have been a great feeling to stand near that raging flow.

A great image. I would not like to try and swim against that wall of water. You would have to be very fit to survive the challenge.
