Description

Digital illustration of the Cass Gilbert designed Northern Pacific Railroad Depot in Little Falls, Minnesota. After many hours of research on the internet and was unable to find reference photos showing the old buildings, water tower and tool shed shown on the left. I had to rely on my memory from my days growing up on 1st Street along with an old family photo the showed a lower portion of the water tower. The young man loading freight onto the old truck is a 17 year old Charles Lindbergh who worked for Martin Engstrom's hardware store on Broadway on the west side across from the Royal Cafe. This depot was a half block down the street from where I grew up. I spent many days of my youth exploring this building along with the rail yard and surrounding woods along the Mississippi River. I completed this Adobe Photoshop illustration in February of 2014. The original size is 40.21" x 18.5". The Giclee on canvas is now framed and hanging on my office wall.
