Description

Not far from the beginning of the High Beech car park walking trail through Epping Forest is this remarkable tree - the Beech tree that shines with the light of the sun. Epping Forest is very different from Burnham Beeches as oaks (in particular the Pedunculate Oak) are more numerous, along with Beeches, European Hornbeams and Silver Birch. It has a wilder appearance than the more cultured Burnham Beeches, housing the remains of Iron Age settlements and Celtic earthworks. Everywhere you look are tangled boughs and branches, eerily reminiscent of the long locks of Boudicca's hair.

What a lovely part of our Island this is! I think it may be worth bearing in mind a smaller aperture may have given a more pronounced starbust and added some extra contrast to the scene

Fantastic shot, especially how you've captured the sun. Reminds me of the song from Genesis "The battle of Epping Forest". Thanks for you comment. The shot was taken in Europe, exactly in south-west Germany.
