Hi all, I am on leave from today until the 8th of Jan so you won't be hearing from me until then. I want to wish you all a brilliant Christmas for Monday and and fantastic New Year! Stacks of hugs SzQ --------------------- Failed Flight The bird hovers Wings flapping tiny shivers in the air Eyes sharp and clear on the fish below the liquid mirror. Black and white work in harmony as feathers hold the tiny body aloft. The fish swims up Sluggishly The kingfisher hurtls down A flighted dart in action Stabbing at the prey with a powerful beak Success! It's family will be fed well for another day The bird rises up Stretching it's muscles in its constant battle against gravity. Only to be pulled relentlessly down into submission by another force. It valiantly pulls harder, stronger But fails The food slips loose, darting down to hide beneath a rock As the bird now saturated with salty water flounders, Leg caught tightly in a vicious nylon grip. The tiny body quivers Shivers Until it moves no more. Careless fishermen Bringing thoughtless death to tiny beautiful creatures.
