Does Poser now load OBJ files directly or are the suers having to go through Fiel>Import? DS has File>Import too; you'd have to tell them which preset to pick in the options dialogue but otherwise it should be the same set up as for Poser. DS can import through the Content Library pane, under Other Import Formats, but there isn't a default directory listed there as far as I know so suers would have to add one and place the contents of you zip in that.
Why not just set it up as an actual DS asset?
1 Import Object to DS
2 Setup Material surfaces(Make sure maps are in the runtime texture folder)
3 Save As-Support Asset-Figure-Prop(in props folder)
4 Create clone folder of your content library - collect the relevant data folder (Which holds the prop geometry, UV and morph data), Collect relevant texture folder, Collect relevant prop folder.
5 RTG
I would suggest adding a new content directory (create a folder that isn't in an existing content directory, then in the Content Library pane right-click on Daz Studio Formats, select Add new Base Directory, and select your folder), put the Runtime/Textures folder in that before you apply them to the imported OBJ, import your OBJ, apply the base textures (if it's to load textured, make sure it's working, and File>Save As>Support Assets>Figure/prop Asset; put the preset for load in the new content directory (e.g. /Props/Type of prop/Sams3D Item), then in the options that dialogue, at the top, select your new content directory as the base (this controls where the Data file with the asset files goes). Create any pose or materials and save presets to a sub-folder of the item - e.g. /Props/Type of prop/Sams3D/Materials. Add you read-me and license to the content directory, zip it up, test it, and with luck you are done.

I have content (props) that consist of only .obj files. The object files have material names already attached. My question is how do I create a zipped folder for others to be able to install or just use the obj files specifically for daz3d? I have searched everywhere for specific instructions but can't seem to grasp the instructions. I can create zipped folders for Poser, but they do not have a data file included. I tried to manually create the name in the Prop directory in Daz3d, however the object does not appear....now I am totally lost.
Can someone either help or point me in the direction for this, it is to be in the new DAZ3D studio, 4.1 (I think that is the current one)
