Description
This is a portrait of a character from my original story-in-progress, Darkworld. His name is Shay'Es; he is the godlike demon who created and rules the vampires, who in turn rule everyone else. This began as a quick pencil sketch which I scanned into Painter 5. From there I worked with some custom brushes. Comments welcome. I would love to know what kind of impressions you get about his character from this portrait. :) Please be sure to look at my other works. Thanks!

Love the style, very nice work. The overall softness plays well against the subject matter.
Nice stuff. I agree that the softness somehow makes him seem even more sinister.
Looks like a pretty gentle demon to me, most probably because of the softness & colors. If the bg color was red, he'd probably look a lot meaner. Great illustration!!

he seems pensive and melancholy. sorta the 'reluctant vampire' syndrome, if you know what i mean. definitely thoughtful; not your average beastial, raving, un-thinking evil bad nasty dude. am i close? ;)
