Description


A test render, using a new lighting system. Based on an IBL image from Mitchell (he'll understand the title), it uses a python script to setup 5 main (infinite) lights from that IBL image, then use that same image as the background. It even sets up the Main Light for the Realism Kit. I've adding an IBL light in there too, at 40% intensity, which is maybe a little high. There is no IBL AO in this render, and in general I think the shadows are pretty good, although the top right of her head - where her hair joins is not quite right. Maybe the best gift in P6 was the raytraced shadows? Her teeth are maybe a fraction bright (they use a separate AO node). Skin and morph is The REAL Jessi, head morph is morph 2 from that product dialed in at 0.2. P6 Character Realism Kit run over the top.

It's a good outdoor lighting scheme, Paul. I think a little AO wouldn't hurt on the nostrils, and the eyes seem a little flat (even on a overcast day, eyes would show some kind of specular reflectivity). I love the soft shadow under the chin, and the morph is really great. Very nice.

Very nicely done, a lot of effort for an ibl setup! perhaps if your interested in complex IBL, something I've been using lately is creating mostly 3d environments, setting up 10-12 lights without shadows, and 1 main lightm putting a high-res reflective ball in there and rendering at 512x512. I then use this as an IBL image and keep the main light, and add a specular only light at a slight off angle to the main light. works pretty darn awesome, but takes AGES LOL! anyway, back to YOUR image... the left side of her face (right side of image) looks a little too red, not sure if its just me, or the texture and camera angle + sss are causing it. I dunno!

I dont know how does it work but the render and lighting are fantastic!I think the eyes need a little bit more reflections.The texture and facial expressions are superb.Great work!!!!

Hey Paul: Looks great...gee I would have sent you a better IBL Image....I would agree with Maxx, the only thing I see that needs work are the eyes, they need some hi-liting. Yeah and watch that blush on her face.....it's bleeding over to her nose... Other than that , man, this Rocks, this is superb!!!!!!! But I've come to expect that from your images!!!!! ~mitchell

Hi Paul, nice to see that you are not giving up with IBL/P6. Your renders with spots are still much better... I think because P6 supports not HDRI IBL without an spot or pointlight will never make enough contrast and highlights, maybe this makes the eyes look flat? For this background the leftside is to bright i think, or as explanation, the photograph had help from someome holding an reflective screen ;-) But my first impression (i am doing many photos) was that the blurred background could in realworld ony achieved with an 100/1,4 or 200/2,8 lens and focus set on eyes, so from front of ears backwards it is out of focus. I one word, using Depht of Field would make it more real! The morph is great! I like the expression very much! The skript is an good idea, but spending energy on poor, always out of memory Firefly,could be better spend on making your fantastic shaders for VUE5I... ~Uwe

Wish I really knew what you are up to here...P6 is still on hold. Soft shadows are really something though and really cook here. As for the odd fit hair, you can save it with 2 mags attached to the temples for a quick fit. No more "ring around the nostrils"? Yes

Hi Paul, I was watching your gallery right now to see your new innovations in action, I like, they looks much better as ever before, but one thing about some of the renders is that the skin is to dry, the models looks like they wear make-up the skin have to be more like alabaster, there was one or too that looks perfect but I see you return back to the dry look again, if you use IBL you need the little point light or spot in Poser6 to get the high lights working fine, it is friendly advice and I tell you what my eyes see, it is not simple I know but maybe you get the chance to change your direction and make it more REAL, the textures are perfect as well..... and my favorite Image from all in your gallery was "The Punter" a fantastic looking creation.
