Canon EOS 10D, Canon 100-400L IS lens at 170mm
ISO 400, 1/4000 second at f5.0 hand-held
I've seen my share of great egrets, but have not gotten many good chances at a flying one, until now. These birds are so graceful when they fly that it's a joy to watch them. They remind me of airplanes when they just glide around like this one was. I was lucky that the sunlight was making bird look very nice and bright against the blue sky. On some other tries, I got too much dark shadow under the wings, and the shots were not good.

Oh, what a wonderfully detailed action capture. A very nice contrast to the dark, grounded one I posted the other day. I love the light in it's feathers and it's gliding pose...great photo!

A very fine image. The bird looks great with the sun shining through him. Well done .. perhaps, the crop is a little bit to tight? Some more air in the direction he's flying at would be fine to me :-)
