Description

"Sort of a self portrait, really. Every phase of my life since high school has included scenes exactly like this one. Guitar, coffee, a smoke. Never really mattered if i was performing or playing for myself......" From my first post of this image. Several suggested i could give the metal reflections some life, so i did, this is the result. As i've said, this guitar is my first complex serious model. I'm reasonably happy with it. Starting to move thru lightwave with some confidence now. A nod to tech stuff: The lighting is a result of several renders and some compositing in photoshop. Main light is an area light which was first a spot. Raytrace, no radiosity. Spotlight effect is a partial pick up from the first rejected render. Surfaces are mostly procedural. Guitar is box modeled. The ashstray sent render times thru the roof. Floor is a texture i picked up over the years. Tiled by me, strong bump. Tiling in lightwave seems counter-intuitive to me. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions and support. Really is a nice group going on here.

Your best version yet my friend, and the ashtray is a nice touch, and worth the pain of high render times. Could this be a possible still life entry for our current forum challange? Keep up the great work bud. --(Vote)--

Fantastic job of modeling...or maybe its 'cause I'm going thru "Taylor aquisition syndrome," for an NS44ce after 23 years of not playing. Wonderful image! Vote -jay
