This is a beautiful old ramshackled building I love pics like this sis I am wondering what secrets these hallowed halls are not telling Indeed after reading this I am blessed:) I would give to the foundation, watch it every yr at Christmas, so touching but I am stringing on thin line with funds Hoping this reaches out and touches someone and they can make a small child smile Even if its for warmth,a meal, or just plain heart felt love Beautiful image sis, this made me misty eyed as well as the poem Bravo & Vote Luv ya sis Susan~

My grandfather grew up on a reservation in abject poverty.....so there but for the grace of God, go I. It's easy to push the poor to the back of our minds. It's easier not to think about it, and it takes courage to speak out, not only through your art, but with your words, in a place where many will not want to see or hear. Beautiful piece of work, and bravo!

Very moving photo and commentary. Yes, we so easily forget the less fortunate in our world. We have had it too good in this country. We are all wrapped up in living 'The American Dream' and buying, buying, buying stuff! Thank you for this. We all need to be reminded of the needs of others.

There are places, and people, like this all over the US and certainly the world. While nations spend billions on destroying each other and people have to have the latest techno gizmos, snall children, old folks, and working people everywhere have to suffer. Very powerful work, a beautiful photo and poem. Thanks for the always necessary reminder.*

this"old ramshackel building" as it was called up there somewhere, reminds me of the home that I lived in as a boy.one half of our house was a formely a chicken coop that served as bedrooms. during the winter it leaked wind everywhere, had to pile on the blankets to stay warm in Okla winters. but it was home and my mother raised 4 children by herself(actually not me, I am still a kid at heart). neighbors gave us veggies and we had chickens until it it got commandered as bedrooms. we was hungry sometimes and almost never had any meat, but we had my mother's love to keep us going. She washed and ironed peoples clothes besides ours on a old maytag whinger machine. She also cleaned people's homes.we never had a inside bathroom until I was in college. yep I know alot of people are worse off than I am, but life was a lot more simple then. actually the house in the foto is bigger than what we had, but do not think people can not be happy even if they do not have the luxuries of other people. belongings often complicates things. I will go back to my corner now and behave!! have a great weekend

Thank you for sharing that. You are right. I remember when we didn't have alot, though I never suffered. We appreciated things alot more. My kids got almost everything they asked for, and they didn't appreciate anything.Sad world. I have a feeling that we are going to have a chance to learn it all over again.

look like a house when I was six years old I had to bring in fire wood for the pot belly stove and on that stove I got burn only once then I know not to get too close playing by the stove Mom did not have to tell me I just know. She cooked on that stove for the first six months then my dad got the kicten builded so mom could cook on a real stove.

This sure does bring back some memories, and caused me to think a little.......I grew up in West Virgina, in a house that was built the year before the Civil War started, in the winter the snow would come through my bedroom window, the indoor plumbing, (which we were blessed to have because alot of people didn't ) would freeze in January, and we would have to melt snow and carry water till March or April. I loved those days and my childhood could not have been better, I got alot of my streangh and character from growing up there. Now i live in sunny Florida, have a nice home, and tend to get spoiled.........so a nice reality check like this picture comes in handy......Thank you for this wonderful post, and being a caring person. there is something especially touching about this line: "He wonders if His feet got cold in the snow." Good image and message. I do wonder if upping the contrast of your image slightly might give it a bit more of the touch of starkness...

I'm incredible impressed by all what you've said - the thing is, we rarely remember those in need and we rarely make a good gesture to them...The scenes that make me the sadest man on the earth is too see those grandmas or grandpas begging for a penny or a cent on the streets - those are the moments when I want to hate God for making the life of those people so miserable; I know, I know - everybody has the path they choose to follow, but still there's a part of the old people that, after working a lifetime, receive not enough money from the state to live a decent life....To see those people on their knees in the streets, beggin for our mercy, is more than shocking!!!! A great art you've posted here, true words you've spoken and a nice gesture to think of those in need! Peace! Mihai
