Description

Can you see him? The fat, smiling Buddha figures are called Hotei and there is a kind where the figure is curled up into a ball. I searched the web trying to find them but strangely came up empty. If anyone knows what they are called, please let me know. Anyway, that's what this image reminded me of. Mostly Bryce w/ a little Photoshop.

If it wasnt for the 'white' lights where his eyes would be....it looks like his eyes are closed with wrinkles both above and below them.....its like seeing faces in clouds! excellent effects and what a gallery you have! WOW. sci-fi/ photography/bryce/poser and mixed media all show you are a master..well done

Thanks for the info tharpa. I do know a bit about "the Buddah" and never actually called the figure in my image that. That's why I was asking about the proper name for it in my description. It is a "_____ Buddha", but I am not sure which one. If you know, please enlighten me...or do I have to sit for days under a Bohdi tree, like the "Shakyamuni Buddha?" Actually, the proper name of the tree is ficus religiosa, since we are being so specific. ;^) If anyone is interested in the life of "The Buddha," I highly reccommend reading Siddhartha....which can be found online here: http://pd.sparknotes.com/lit/siddhartha/

Akkh! Two Pynts! You goofed again! The novel* Siddhartha is not about the Buddha. The only thing in common between the book "Siddhartha" and the Buddha is that the Buddha's name before his enlightenment was "Siddhatta". In fact, in the novel "Siddhartha," the main character, Siddhartha, meets the Buddha! "Siddhartha" was an interesting novel, but it's not about the Buddha! If you wish to learn about the life of the Buddha, please see almost anywhere else, but I recommend http://www.accesstoinsight.org/ptf/buddha.html. TwoPynts, I know your intentions were not bad, but if you know absolutely nothing about the Buddha or Buddhism, please don't spread misinformation. Hotei is sometimes erroneously referred to as "the laughing Buddha" if that's what you were thinking of. Better just to refer to him correctly as Hotei. Ficus reliosa is one of the proper names, the latin one, of the tree. Other proper names are Bodhi (which is what it's called by Buddhists) tree or Banyan tree.
