Description
The dark Plains on the Moon are Basins of solidified Lava from the Times 700 Million Years ago, when the Moon showed volcanic Activity and the Lava rolled out and covered huge Terrains. They have been given poetic Names of Oceans:
In This Aspect You see from Top down the Mare serenitatis (Sea of Joy), the Mare imbrium (Sea of Rains) and the large Mare procellarum (Sea of Storms). To the right the famos Crater "Copernicus" can be seen, the little one beneath is called "Keppler".
All of these Plains resemble a Face, so it came to the "Man in the Moon"!
Have a good Day and spend some Time on the Sea of Joy! ;)
