Description
Edgar was a second class passenger upon the Titanic. He was studying in England in 1912 but was invited to his brother's wedding in the United States. He was supposed to ride the Oceanic but the coal strike made him have to rebook onto the Titanic and to have to leave earlier than expected. This made him rather unhappy as he ended up missing his friend visiting from Argentina because of it. In a letter he wrote to greet his friend as he could not greet him in person, he lamented on the fact that he had to leave just a couple days before he would be arriving. Even though he would be boarding 'the greatest steamship in the world' he was bitter about it and wrote to his friend Josey: "right now, I wish the Titanic were lying at the bottom of the ocean."
Edgar perished with the sinking of the Titanic.
A couple of his possessions: the Boston Stone Postcard, though unknown if he actually went to Boston, and a towel with a laundry mark assigned with his name a symbol that was meant as good luck at the time in Western Europe, widely used as decoration and was a sacred symbol for Hinduism and Buddhism for 11,000 years or more. Unfortunately in 1930s, that was changed by the Nazi Party and overshadowed it's original use and intent.
