Description
We are now in the western part of the country, speeding toward California. These were taken from the train window and the rear door.
On one stretch of track we maxed-out at 105 mph -- it was thrilling -- but also made me wonder what it would feel like on a modern train going 250 mph.

Mighty fine landscapes.
Thanks, Conte!
Super trip. Love the first landscape.
Normally I would run over and try to climb those rocks, but unfortunately I was stuck on a moving train ... LOL.
Yes, the first one is unique, but the second is majestic!
I wonder if any of them eroded or changed after 4 decades, or are still exactly the same.
I'm wondering if they have a local name: The Jury? The Board of Directors? The Council of the Elders? The Grandparents?
LoL ... I think 'The Elders' would be quite appropriate:-)
Looks like a great trip. Some look like Mars with plants. - Bob
Mars with plants? ... LOL! ... what a great analogy!
This is such a magnificent part of the country. We visited Washington state back in 2019, and it was amazing.
You got some great shots from the train! Looks like they still have those old poles with the glass insulators out there.
I wouldn't be surprised if many man-made things have changed by now. The Granby station in Colorado, for example, has changed a lot by 2005 ... today it's probably unrecognizable.
Almost like if giant statues were sculpted by Mother Nature before to fall with passing time on your first photo!
Yes, it does look that way;-)
Great shots.
