Description
This is when I finally built a super spaceport for my amazing rocket which I built 7 years earlier. I'm tempted to say it was a real rocket made of titanium alloy with atomic engines, but that would be somewhat dishonest -- in reality it was just a small model made of cardboard and white glue.
I was going to mention the astronomically huge budget I spent on its construction, including the spaceport, but sadly I can't because that's highly classified -- so all I can give you is this small clue: it cost less than 5 cents.

That's pretty cool, sir! Nicely done!
I used to build rockets out of cardboard tubes and balsa fins. I bought engines from a company called Estes, and launch them from big fields. The things would hit 1000 feet easily, then pop out a parachute and float back down (usually...LOL).
That's exactly what I built a decade after this -- a sleek black rocket with custom fins, plus a fancy launch pad with a home-made ignition circuit. When I finally launched it, it went so high so fast that I lost sight of it, until it parachuted back down -- but with its cone missing and forever lost:-( .... and all my camera caught was the fiery exhaust ... LOL.
Sadly that was the last launch.
Very cool. Looks like the set of a 1950's movie. - Bob
Yup, now that I think of it I suppose it does:-)
This is really cool! I remember the Estes company, too, although I never launched one of the rockets.
There's actual clubs that meet at some open field and launch rockets as tall as 6 feet or more;-)
This is a fun trip back into my past when everyday items could become anything you imagined. My friends thought I was nuts but I never cared....imagination frees us all :)
Awesome share :)
Just before I built this rocket from scratch I assembled my very first plane and ship ... and boy did I like to play with them after school!
A little more, and professor Tournesol would have hired you to help in his project ;)
