Description
When the Stellarion crew discovered the astonishing relic in the Ross 128 system, likely a spacecraft of unknown origin, they thoroughly scanned, photographed and tested its composition, but were unable to gain access to the interior. Decision was made to return to Earth for further instructions.
A day later, back on Earth, the Stellarion findings were studied which revealed the relic to be surprisingly recent, less than 60 years old. One researcher cautioned about potential dangers, but his warning was overshadowed by the decision to immediately launch a follow-up mission equipped with additional engineers, scientists, advanced tools, and several armed marines. The discovery was code-named "Merlin’s Find" and classified top-secret.
Three days later, the Stellarion returned to Ross 128. Two landers ferried personnel and equipment to the planet’s surface, where the team began the painstaking task of cutting through the relic’s hull with a heavy-duty plasma cutter.

This is wonderful work!
Thank you, Starship.
This really is an incredible work of art and storyline, Max! I just hope nothing nasty awaits inside that ship!
Outstanding! And thanks for the follow, my friend!
Well, so far my characters haven't encountered many nasty things at all ... so I seriously doubt there's anything nasty in here ... probably totally safe:-)
Marvellous sci-fi scene!
Thanks, Blue:-)
You know, a part from the story that I am enjoying immensely its the art that goes with it and in particular, the scene is awesome but the beam creating a molten stream really sells this for me...Love it :)
Also downloaded your models, not sure what I am going to do with them but thinking about them :)
I'm happy to know you enjoy it, Steff:-)
The whole beam/stream thing was actually done manually with my old PaintShopPro, as well as adding all the props and figures. Took me way longer than I expected; I suppose being too picky with details is one of my bad habits.
And you found my models? ... hehe ... recently I thought of my Bryce models that are just gathering dust, so I figured I might as well release them for the world to enjoy. They were just the start of a massive Bryce models collection I was planning to build, but then suddenly Bryce updates got abandoned and I lost all motivation.
I'm the fairly suspicious person by nature, the team has Marines and scientists stationed on the ground waiting to see what pours out of this 60 year old alien piñata. Did any member of the command staff decide it might be a good idea to keep a contingent in orbit (preferably hidden) in case the investigating members need to be hauled out in a hurry as millions of hi-tech scarab beetles come pouring out of this thing and begin devouring the party, or conversely they trigger the (supposed) vessel's car alarm and the owners come running? 60 years may seem like a lifetime to the average human but if the ship builders have say a 20,000 year life span then they may think they just parked it. Plus how do they know it's ship and not an undetonated bomb? ... sorry, rambling, I may have read too much Sci-Fi over the years ;)
LOL! Your analysis and advice has already been implemented (mostly) -- they came down in small drop-ships while the main ship is nice and safe in high orbit. And that small contingent of Marines are a tough bunch of professionals with the best hand weapons the 2080's have to offer ... Nothing to worry about!
