Description
I am a great fan of all things vintage & have a large collection of vintage magazines from the late 1920's - 1960's
from which I take a lot of my inspiration in one way or another.
Brigitte Bardot is one of my favourite actresses & I originally did a felt-tip sketch of the photograph back in 1984, which
I posted it on my DeviantArt page in 2009 (https://www.deviantart.com/mediacandi/art/Brigitte-145701042).
I completely forgot about it until I found the actual sketch after rummaging through my art portfolio. The paper is all mucky
as it was stuck to the back of another piece of work.
BB was born in 1934 so she will be 90 in September. I decided to pay tribute to her & challenge myself to see if I could replicate her
pose from the photo or my sketch. I only want to replicate the pose & general appearance.
This is not supposed to be an exact likeness - it is a tribute to her & no creation I could do would ever replicate her beauty anyway.
The outfit I used is actually lingerie. I do have a tutu like almost identical to what she is wearing in the photo, but the skirt didn't sit right.
The ruffles on the lingerie worked better so I went with that.
Her actual birthday is September 28th so I am thinking of doing a few more pieces based on the magazine photos. It depends how
bogged down I am with work - which is a lot recently as so many animations need my voice-actors and uploading to the site!
Plus I'm starting to remove many of my images from DeviantArt due to the AI debacle.
I will probably leave some of my old 2D art & perhaps a few 3D pieces - not sure yet. DeviantArt is not what it used to be.
Many of my old friends have left which is sad, if I hadn't been on there for so long, I'd probably close my gallery down completely.
