Description

The shorter pirate shoved the inert body rolled in the bedspread out of the window onto the ledge. "She's still out stiff as you like!" The taller pirated replied, "Mr. Billy puts them down nice and neat. Don't push her off the ledge, now. We've got this far and I'd as soon collect the full bounty for producing her quick if not awake." She looked at the head maid and smiled behind her mask. "I reckon you have no further role in this." "Please," the clank spoke. "Leave me a shred of dignity. The clank seed you poisoned me with made me your slave. Release me once you're out the window. Please!" The taller pirate laughed. "In a pig's eye! Here's my last command: Apple of my eye, seed kill!" "No, Please... N-no..." The Clank's voice trailed off and it became as immobile as an iron statue. "What did you do?" the short pirate demanded. "I terminated the clank seed with an instruction that abolished all of her memory and intellect, like. She'd be needing the services of a spark to do anything again and she'll have not the faintest recollection of all the help she gave us." Molly's art notes: Set up and rendered in Poser 12.619 with the Superfly Cycles 2 rendering engine. The location is Blue Tree Studio's modular mansion. The Skydome and manor grounds are by Flink. The taller air pirate is based on the Dawn mesh with shape and texture by Tempesta3d. The shorter air pirate is based on good ol' V4 also with shape and texture by Tempesta3d. Their gear is from DAZ. The head maid is based on Cybertenko's CSI mannequin with an outfit by Maya Studios repurposed.

This is a hint about how vision works, applicable to this image and many others I have seen. The eye is not a camera. It senses bits of visual information, edges, blobs colors and textures and sends them to the brain which assembles them using a template based on something similar we have seen before. The artists has a very detailed model of what is in the scene. So viewing a render the artist is almost certain to 'see' the entire scene even if bits are actually missing. But one forgets that a gallery viewer, not aided by the model, will just see some isolated blobs. If the artist means for the viewer to see what is in the scene, the artist needs to exaggerate, as they see it, the brightness of the scene to allow the viewer, seeing it for the first time, to make out what the viewer is looking at.

Good advice although I have yet to figure out how to implement it, Mazzam. Scenes taking place in darkness are clearly a weakness of mine so I appreciate all your advice. I've been thinking of trying area lights with a bluish tint. We'll see, it's a journey! Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment!

I'm glad you like it enough to comment. As noted above, I am still struggling with scenes meant to be in a dark place. :(
