Description

2B pencil on A5 sketchpad, 27th April 1994 This is a picture of Iggy Pop, which I copied from a photo in Q magazine which I read avidly at that time. I used the rear of a board to create the texture, but still used the full range of tones on top. Nothing special, but I don't mind showing it :-) The series is titled "Embryonic" as these are all experiments, practicing techniques that these days I've all but abandoned. I find that now when I pick up a pencil the old feel comes back, which is reassuring, but these days I just don't seem to have the patience for it. I've done virtually nothing like this in five years or so.

At first I thought it was that pop singer K(the one of Strange World) but I have to say lookin better it can be Iggy :) Your pencil works are capable of many feelings.. others are soft and mysterious, this one sinetad is cool and strong.. Love all of them. And Q is the only music magazine worthy to read from such a long time it isn't? ;)

Well, I never buy it now ;-)
These days I concentrate on The Wire (very eclectic stuff) and occasionally Mojo :-)
