Description

Another character for the Western game I'm illustrating. This was done fairly quickly, so the pose and lighting need work. Overall, though, I like the way the character came out. As for the wolf... I'll probably keep it as his companion, but I really need some feedback on that. Does he look good enough in this b&w style, or does he look too cartoonish or cheesy? BTW: This is my first time using the Apollo Maximus figure. So far, I'm very pleased with the way he works. He is different from the Daz figures, but that's a good thing in that it gives him a different body type and build. When creating a lot of male characters, it's important to have variety. I'm looking forward to using the cool rifle that came with the Western Pack for APollo. A rifleman is a very cool addition to my characters. BTW: The inking effects I'm using look better when viewed at full size.

Has a bit of a James Arness feel about him. Looks good. But idk about the wolf, seems a bit over the top, unbelievable. I'd believe a good scraggly range dog would be with a cowboy, not a wolf.

I like this ink style B&W renders you're doing, They really work for the old west scenes. As for the wolf...The Poser (or is it DAZ) wolf does border on cheesey. He looks better here in B&W, but there are better models, such as AM's wolf (Pappillon66 ?) The cowboy is a classic out of the old movies.

You know, you really did hit the nail on the head. He does look kind of cheesy. I will take a look at the wolf you recommended. I have gone back and forth on this in my head more times than I can count, and I keep coming back to the fact that a guy named "Wolf Willis" should have a half-wolf dog with him. This is supposed to evoke a kind of pulp-adventure feeling, and I think that fits right in. Plus, one thing that bugs me about the illustrations I see in RPGs and miniatures games is that there are seldom children or dogs present. This just makes things antiseptic and more than a little unrealistic to my eyes. Thanks again for the comments! I really appreciate them.

As always, love the style and a good strong sense of character here. Yeah, Apollo is very cool... I really should use him more often myself! Great job.

UPDATE: I have purchased the "Wolf by AM" from Daz and I'm really looking forward to working with it. I'm still thinking that this pulp adventurer needs a half-wolf companion. Since I'm dabbling in the realm of zombies, I think a wolf companion is the least unrealistic part of the story!
