Description
the newest member of my recurve crossbow family. Now I will be able to legally hunt deer in Washington. the cool thing is that this is the first year they allowed crossbow hunters to have scopes.
I got a great package deal, the bow, scope and laser sighting system. I also purchased an additional 6 21.25" arrows and 6 3-blade broadheads and a broadhead wrench.
I think though that if I'm planning to go after elk, I'm going to need a bigger bow, possibly 175# draw, more than likely a compound styled crossbow.

Great weapon, Mike! This things are really powerful. Do You know that they were banned in the Crusades, as too cruel? I, like Wayne, still have my old bow, but no arrows since my boy learned to open doors and use keys! I really like your collection!

I remember, historically, that captured crossbowmen were immediately executed, because of the lethality of their weapons.... not a long range weapon like the longbow, but deadly accurate at short ranges!

I was a bow hunter once upon a time but used a regular compound bow. These days I use a camera instead :)

Man! Looks like the stuff the English used against the French mounted nobility in several of their battles during the 100 years war! They pinned the riders legs to their horses sides, then turned the riders beautiful armor into pin cushion style metal coffins. In Sweden, crossbows are illegal and are considered every bit as dangerous as a powerful gun. They were controversial even during the 1500s. When the king tried to confiscate them, this started a war. He had to sue for peace and let the people keep their cross bows. Most owners lived in wooded areas or in the country side and needed them for hunting and protection (wolves, foxes, bears). Very nice photo.
