Description

One less mouth, one less excited smile, at dinner tonight. I grew up on a farm back in Indiana--I have dealt with death and loss through disease, predators, nature, and other things that I thought would harden me more to this loss than I'm finding. Davey was there even before Jager became MY kid. He was the first pet I had around in almost 15 years. We bonded early in Paula and I's relationship. I already miss my "My Sofa Buddy"

Thanks; Yeah, been tough week around here. There are three plus a long term guest--all rescues like Davey was. Been tough on them as well. thanks again.

Sorry my friend...I've lost many pets over the years and remember them all with a smile. The American Indians belive when the great one created the earth he caused a deep divide in the earth between man and animals...but before the crack grew too large...only the dog jumped over and stood beside man and forever became his friend. I believe this myth too.... As they say in Washington D.C. ...if you want a true friend...get a dog. Mans best friend...he lives on in your heart and memories. Keep on man!!!

I can relate bud...had a cat, my familiar, for nearly 15yrs...you never get used to that kind of loss...I feel ya'. Cool capture to remember him by though!

Thanks-we definitely miss the woofing and my sofa buddy... The bowl has a new owner even though there was no plans to add one. Came across a story on the local news about a rescue group out in Issaquah who had rescued a bunch of shelter dogs from Stockton, CA who were going to be put down. In it was a German Shorthaired Pointer named "Pete". I have pics to post shortly. Turns out "Pete" is actually an English Pointer, but he's ours now, so we are back at "Full strength" (four rescues) in the house. The rescue vet said 2-3 yo, but our vet says actually 5-6 yo and from the look of him, most of that time was spent on the streets of Stockton--bite scars around the legs, rough patches from sleeping on the concrete (both the street and the Stockton shelter)--they had him on a cup of Puppy Chow three times a day for a month and he was still only 45 pounds (should be 65-70 from his size) when we got him. We had him at 53 lbs, but he's fighting Gastritis (stomach and bowels are having trouble processing food) which may come from the poor diet of street life and suddenly getting a healthy (fattening) diet, salmon oil for his coat, etc. He's had some social issues with the other house dogs (mostly pecking order), but we have him in training and he is adapting. Everyone at PetSmart (where we are training) ADORES him--he and Jager both are rockstars with the staff (Jager is getting the badly needed training as well).
