Description
Having spent a while loitering around the later parts of the story, we're going back almost to the beginning.
Fabrizio, as you may remember, has been going to Sordi's in the hope of learning to fight (so that he can join the condotta; an ambition which, fortunately, dies out pretty quickly). When he meets Francesco there, recently arrived in town and looking for work, Fabrizio comes up with the ideal solution. Francesco can teach him how to fight properly. Needless to say, this plan seems admirably simple but is fraught with problems. For a start, Fabrizio has no money to pay for his lessons - which leads eventually to a suggestion that he could pay by giving Francesco somewhere to live. But that's still in the future.
At the moment, Francesco has arrived for the first time at Fabrizio's house and is rather bewildered to find himself in a bona fide palazzo (albeit a small one and in rather bad repair). Furthermore, he has two key problems. First, Fabrizio's servant Rodrigo has decided to come and keep an eye on proceedings and has turned up armed with a kitchen knife. A potentially excitable servant is a distraction Francesco can do without. Second, he's never taught anyone to fight (and teaching an aristo, in any case, feels a bit like a wolf teaching a lamb to defend itself). Fabrizio, trying to be helpful, suggests that Francesco just teaches him in the way that Luigi taught him. Francesco immediately refuses. If I ever do a flashback scene, you'll understand why. Suffice it to say that Luigi's educational theory was that a boy would learn quickly enough if someone came at him with a sword and tried to kill him. Under the present circumstances, this seems inappropriate and Francesco is left to dredge up a more conventional style of teaching...

Excellent posing all around!! I particularly like the expressions on Francesco and Rodrigo!! The light coming in from the courtyard is great and I really love the palazzo setting. Excellent scene!

Gah! Everytime I see one of your offerings, I find myself needing a napkin to keep the drool off of my keyboard! Fabrizio is just yummy, as is Francesco. I love the poses, the setting, lighting and of course the clothes!! We need more handsome men for us ladies on Rendo! Well, perhaps these two can come to an agreement that even Rodrigo, the faithful servant can live with! Can't wait for more!!!
