Description
Hi Everyone...back from camping and met some new 'friends' while at the campground. This was one of the biggest moths I've come across. I'm mainly posting it because I was hoping that someone might know what kind of moth it is.
I'll be uploading some more pics from our trip over the next few days!

Sorry, no help identifying the kind of moth but definitely a big one and proof that not butterflies alone are beautiful. Great capture!
Moth looks to be about 5 carats! LOL. Nice shot.
fantastic capture!!
Oh this really bugs me !..lol I know you just wanted to show off the ring.
That is a large moth and well camouflaged to hide on New Hampshire type trees. Wonderful capture and I have seen this before but can’t recall the name ( if I knew it in the first place). Beautiful ring. Dana
I see the moth is checking out your ring! Nice shot
OK everyone. I have to tell you that the capture of the ring was not intentional. LOL. I know, I took the shot using my wife's camera. No, we are not wealthy. She inherited the ring from her grandmother. It was only after capturing this image that I noticed just how predominately visible her grandmother's ring was. I told her she would get a lot of comments on the ring, LOL. So, does ANYONE out there know what kind of moth this is?
It is close to an owl moth but there are so many that look similar... Great capture for sure!
Very well done!
I don't know, but I think it likes your ring. ;D Fantastic capture!
in any case, its a moth with style:) well done!
I agree with MrsLubner :)
AWESOME CAPTURE AND GREAT WORK..!!!
Yeah thats one of them there Hey I wanna show something off so I'll sit inocently next to it so Mike can snap a picture northern spotted moths. They are a bit rare, sort of like those rare diamonds you find in some expensive rings.
It's a crow-moth......it likes shiny things...lol... Never knew moths could get this big....nice capture....!
We have some really big moths here too, but don't know why they are called. Great shot.
Wow, Holly! I need to spend more time in your gallery! I'm adding you right now to my fave artist's list - I don't know how I've missed this, but you're added as soon as I get done here.. Wonderful photo of this moth - I think it's the extremely rare Helzberg's Moth... hehehe
What a fabulous specimen! Wonderful capture. ^=^
very nice shot
Marvelous shot! (This morning I was taking pictures, I thought the baby was ready to leave, we try again tomorrow)
