Description

A Sweetgum ball - I've raked up ten thousand or more, with at least that many still in my tree. Range in US is southern and southeastern states (mild winters and ample rainfall)- My tree is in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Seeds fall from the orifices before the balls drop. Most balls are in the 1.3 to 1.75 inch range. Do not walk out there barefoot.
