Description
She saw them walking towards her. The school yard seemed crowded with those big kids from the top class.
She didnt like big kids. She didnt like large groups.
Ominous.
They all started talking at once
'That's her' 'She is really little' 'Teacher read your story to us' 'Who told you what to write it?' 'Teacher said we could learn...'
'Where did you get these fancy words?' 'Are you 7 or 8?'
She stopped listening. Those 13 year old seemed bigger and bigger as they gathered around.
She looked up searching for gaps between the faces.
'I cant see the sky. I wish they wouldnt steal my sky' she thought ' I should never write like that again. Perhaps I'll get my sky back.'
Next night she dreamt about orange geese.

I found it hard to deal with the various young characters - hard to morph, hard to pose, hard to find suitable clothes... I modeled the T-shirts of the boys in the center with Hexagon, and textured the clothes in Vue. Procedural skin textures generated with SkinVue.

I find it very interesting that the sky is so colorful. Like it's full of promises that are hard to fulfill, now that's being stolen. The freedom of those birds seems unreachable. Great diversity on the kids. The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the wide angle lens distortion.

It's a classic story repeated endlessly in fiction, and in people's lives. It's part of the human subconsciousness. It happened to me when I was ten. I ended up biting some people before I had the crap beaten out of me. However...I never gave up my sky. I hope you never do ,either. Great work. ^__^V,,

A classic story? Hmmm. Deeply psychological, expressive - the need for more narrative, closure and opening - a post-modern tale not classical at all. Missed connections and frames of films. I'm starting to channel Tallpindo - yet this...well on and on. Brilliant and enough in the end.

It sounds and looks a lot like various moments in my childhood. I love the need to see the sky and dreaming of geese. Great job with the teens and point of view. Well said and well done.

i think calling this a classic story misses that the large group's words are admiring and probing but not threatening (at least as i read them). and that the group's expressions seem curious but not disrespectful. maybe i'm reading this wrong, but it seems to be a very unique view on being the center of attention. it reminds me of my mom, who is a Buddhist priest and teacher, and how she reacts to the attention she sometimes attracts within (and without) the Zen community. while some seek that kind of admiring attention, and in fact do a lot to attain and perpetuate it, others find it restricting and claustrophobic. that she dreams of orange geese seems to me a sign that she won't be able to hide her light under a bushel, though it may just be longing for the open sky. i actually like the lens distortion, because it increases the feeling of discomfort, and gives the viewer a need for more distance from the subjects of the image.
