Description

I can't think of anything better to talk about then the love I have for my parents. Both are deceased now, Mom passing away on April 11, 2002 and Daddy passing away in July of 2003. I was very fortunate in having two parents who loved me and stood by me through thick and thin, always looking out for my best interests as well as my siblings, Brenda, Dennis and Patty. I couldn't be with my Mother when she passed from this life but was lucky enough to talk with her on the phone just moments before she died, telling her I loved her. I was with my Father when he passed from this life and was able to tell him all that he meant to me. I would say to all of you that have both your parents still with you, to never miss an opportunity to tell them how much you love them, what they mean to you and as my own Mother always told me, never go to bed angry at someone you love because you may never get another chance to say, "I love you." If there are differences between you and a parent, or even both parents, try and keep trying to patch things up while you still can, because once they are gone, you'll never have that chance again and you will always wish you had tried. I miss my parents so much...all the things we used to do together, all the little talks we had, the sharing, the love. There is an emptiness in my heart that lives with me daily. It is the worst feeling of emptiness I have ever known. I am thankful for all the memories I have of being with them in this life...they taught me well but most of all, they loved me with a love that I returned tenfold. So for no reason at all, walk up to your Dad today and say, "Dad, I love you" or walk up to your Mom and hug her just to be doing it...I'm sure you'll see the reflection of love in their eyes.

Very moving words Marlene and they were nice to read. At least we all have memories (and hopefully photographs) of our parents when they have gone. I am fortunate to still have my Father with me but Mum passed away in 1971 when I was 4 so I only have the odd memory of her. I do however have many cherished photographs of her but it was only a few years ago that I asked my Dad if I could see them and I have now transferred them to his computer. He loves to look at them every day now, whereas before they were just stuck in old photo albums and never really got looked at. Tony.

Wonderful reminder to all of us, Marlene. My mother passed the day after Christmas in December of 2002 and then my brother in January of 2005. My father is still living and I make sure I keep in touch with him and spend time together as much as I can.

Wonderful posting Marcy. Your Avatar as a Thumb is awesome... like product recognition. So.. when you gonna start a grand fairy tale that the folks here can read to their kids, and grandkids, before bedtime each night? The cool thing about being a writer is.. you get to create any world you like. If you really like your own stories then usually others will too. Fun way to express your creativity and perhaps find pubication for some coin.. never know. Bravo and hugs from Dave :^)

How true your words ring! I miss my folks, and I suffer knowing that I never took that extra step to let them know how much I really loved them, and all their efforts in raising me. :)
