Description

As you know, watching hummingbirds fly is one of the most enjoyable pasttimes a bird watcher can do. the way they hover, fly backwards, dart about and even buzz you when you're changing the feeder is quite a bit of fun. And if you have the patience of a saint, getting a shot of one of these beautiful birds can be nearly impossible. I know it can be done as I've seen the evidence here at renderosity. One of my goals was to 'get the shot' and today I did. Below is a shot of one of those jeweled beauties sipping at the nectar bottle and I just happen to have the camera, taking pictures of the dew on the grass. this little fellow buzzed me as he flew to the bottle and I just pointed and got the shot.

Would it suprise you that I know of someone who caught a humming bird with their bare hands??? My son did when he was 13... My Mother took a picture of it and he let the bird go... He was gentle and showed me he could do it again hours later.... My son has always been great around animals. nice picture... you spend alot of time in that back yard don't you - lol... did your neighbors ever sell their house?

It took a while until a saw the little bird. ^^" From such exotic animals I can only dream in good old (cold) germany... You can be proud of this snapshot, even if you cant see very much.

My uncle has a summer home in Idaho up at Priest Lake on the water, and he has about a dozen feeders hung on the trees by his patio; I've seen several dozen hummers at any one time buzzing around, it's an amazing sight!

The trick is to pour salt on the birds tail. Or so I have been told all my life. If yo pour salt on the birds tail it will stay still long enough for you to take the photo. Hope that help. ;o) Great shot!

This is really cool! They are such amaing birds, so beautiful too! When I was a kid we had feeders in our yard,,(we lived on a farm) and they were always buzzing around the feeders. They are my favorite bird. I always thought they looked like colorful jewels with wings and a beak!
