Description

Maybe the Eagle (F-15) and the Mustang (P-51) weren't as close as this looks, but it looks mighty close to me. But then these pilots (men and women these days) trust each other and they do rehearse on Friday prior to the show on Saturday and Sunday. Thought of all sorts of titles: A Moment In Time, Pass The Salt, Togetherness, Cozy, Let Me See Your Smile, Slide A Little Closer,...if you prefer one of these, be my guest :-) Wish the sky was more blue but I have not had good luck playing with blues, grays and whites. Anybody got a suggestion? This was another Kansas City August 2008 post I couldn't pass up. Please open this to full-size to appreciate the size difference between these two planes. Bill

Suggestion for the sky to go blue - mask out the sky (google "layer masking" if you are unaware of this) and play with the colour... there are many ways to do this, but i suppose the simplest is a "Hue/Saturation" adjustment (Photoshop terminology there - but hopefully similar applies to whatever editing program you have). The other option is to use a Polarising filter when taking these sorts of photos, there wouldnt be as much glare from the sun on the planes and it would be slightly "clearer" as they tend to cut through the haze you can see present in this image... and the sky would be a deeper shade of blue to boot :) - although you loose some light and thus shutter speeds are slightly slower. Anyway as for the photo - very interesting and well captured :)

I think the color of the sky is the perfect back drop for these planes .. although a blue sky would look awesome as well. So, I wouldn't worry. Inshaala gave good advice (first comment) .. give that a whirl..... and good luck... and have fun! :)

Well the P-51 is no small plane, so that F-15 has got to be something else.Great photo bmac, and personaly I like the duller sky, brings up the planes nicely.

Leave it. That's how they flew on the day, so why change it. If its changed its not the 'actual event', if you understand where I'm coming from. As for the picture. Amazing photo! Immediate Fav! Bit like my 'Liberty Belle' photo. Where they don't look as if they were there! Like you placed them on top of each other.. Great shot, Rob.

Yes I really hadn't thought of or realized the size difference until seeing your photo. Awesome.
