Description

This ones for my father. He is in the hospital and not well. He is 90 years old and raised 9 children. He was a carpenter, he would get up at 7am go off to work come home at 5pm, work building cabinets in our garage until 10pm then get up and start all over again. He worked until he was 75 years old. I took this picture in May when I went back to Kansas for his 90 birthday party. Thanks for taking time to look. Take care:0)bonita

A beautiful capture, and more beautiful thoughts, Bonita. Your Father must have a dear love of wood, mine did too. I inherited it from him. My thoughts are with you at this time. I hope with all my heart that your Dad gets better soon. Gentle hugs for you both. Di. xx

A very earthy shot. My second hubby worked framing cottages in the woods in in Texas with a partner/friend he'd known since they were 8 years old. And I worked construction in new homes for about 4 years so seeing something like this gives a warm and rich feeling to the heart.

I love this one! And it is especially meaningful because it is your father's tools, not some strangers. Keeping your father in my prayers, hope he is soon home and feeling better.

Dear Bonita, As I looked over your gallery page and see this series on your fathers tools, I was wondering the purpose behind the photographs, so I am thankful for sharing the news of your fathers difficulties. As i am a father of two children, I have started to think more about the things I am leaving behind since my heart attach on December 16, 2005 and open heart surgery bypass thirty days later. I can only add that these tools of your father do hold a certain magic, especially those with wood and have been worn smooth by his hands over the years and should be treasured and handed down to your children. There are three photographs in my gallery on tools I found in a barn and the owner told me they had belonged to her father. There I had found two old, almost home made plane from the depression era and when I learned that she had no use for them, I felt hurt and quickly asked if I could have them. Now they have been cleaned and the wood oiled and now grace my living room table to be passed on to my son. Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for sharing. egmont
