Description

Canon 50mm f/1.8 Inspired by a competition titled "Ice" i took this shot and another, the other is entered in the contest and i will post it up here when voting finishes (there are rules about it being elsewhere on the net during the time of the competition). So yeah - this is what i was asking about on the boards. I had a brainwave about things - i knew i was going to do it on a polished black surface and that the flame and the ice/meltwater would be the only things visible. I initially tried to just light the fluid itself but it wouldnt light - crazy considering it had a "Highly Flammable!" label on it ;) So i made it a wick with some black thread and lay it in a circle around the ice cube and hay presto a burning icecube! :) Thanks for stopping by to take a look. Enjoy! Rich

Rich, this is amazing!! I love it in it's simplicity. The dance of the flames are hypnotic and the reflection is like a mirror! Your imagination stretches well beyond mind - things like this inspire me more and more and for that, I thank you kind Sir! Well done and I hope you win the competition - you can't lose with a shot like this in my opinion!!!!

WHAT A CREATION!!! I love your idea. I think the wick was probably is better solution as it prob lasted longer than what the fluid would've. Really gorgeous, conceptual shot. Beautiful.
