What do dogs think? Two possible answers... Answer 1: As far as I know, dogs don't really think on the same level as we do, so answering your question is a bit tough. You see, dogs don't have the "brain power" (i.e. development) that we do, so they don't have a conscience, ideas, imaginations, or any of the other higher order functions. They can dream however, and almost all of their daily functions are carried out as a result of habit or instinct. You can train them by repetition/food, but you can't train them to think for themselves (i.e. without you, they can't figure out how to open a door, etc.). In short, they just "think" about whatever comes naturally to them. Answer 2: I cannot know what a dog thinks because I am not a dog, but I think I know what I would think if I were a dog. I would be able to perceive objects and patterns of movement and I would be able to remember them. I might also have a vague sense that other things are separate from me, and to recognize relationships between things outside me and my feelings inside. It takes a pretty sophisticated level of mental activity for dogs to be able to form cooperative social relationships and social hierarchies amongst themselves. If I were a dog, I probably would not think about my future or past at all, but just pay attention to what is happening right now. Text for Digimon: Note, one eye needs to be blue...
