Description
Ahrini loved her job. It was not exciting by human standards, but she got to fly the MMI workbee around the super-structure of flying city 64. She felt superior to the poor Scavs, who being born in tubes, only had numbers. She had a mother and father. Once. She never knew them because she was sepreated at birth and raise in a creche with twenty other Trow pilots.
She had tinkered with the Molecular-Motion Induction drive to up it's tolerences above the specs in the book. She wondered why that City 64 had so many Trow sized vehicles. They weren't built like the human vehicles. Not better, or worse--just different. She finished her sweep of the underside and cranked up the magnification of her viewer and played peeping-tom.
She didn't see why there was so much fuss about the appearnce of Flying city 1, Refuge, and the Celestial Father and such things. It had to be a human thing. She made sure that no birds, or other things had nested on the underside, and requested leave to re-dock in hangar 121.
It took a long time for anyone to respond.
"This is Controller 3. Hold station outside. Will advise. Stand by." She was curt and excited. Ahrini wondered what was going on. She had no idea that she was about to find out in the worst way.
