Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 Mar 08 8:23 pm)
probably not the cr2 and what ever else files you deleted would have given you clues about what obj and textures you needed to run that particular character, hair, prop ect. without some file leading the way about the only thing I would know of would be to uninstall Poser and see what is left, take those files and archive them and when you need a particular file go to that archive and reinsert it into the correct folder. Sounds like a long drawn out process. Just a thought but maybe before deleting any more cr2's or whatever you find out what other files that cr2 requires and make a dummy runtime and then zip all the files refered to into that dummy runtime. CDs are pretty cheap, why not next time move all the files you are going to delete onto a CD. Right now I'd guess you have weeks of work in store. Try going into search and do each left over obj and texture and find out what files call for those, if nothing does feel free to delete files. Good Luck
If you have an .obj file that you suspect has been orphaned, perform a text search through your runtime folders for any files containing the .obj's filename. In Windows 98, I can do this with the Find function. If the search is unsuccessful, you'll know that the mesh is an orphan, and you can delete it at your leisure.

I know I have MANY obj files in my geometries folder that I no longer need... From installing many freestuff characters and then deleting the cr2's after I decided I know longer needed them... also since this is the same P3 install that I have always had, I have many files that I deleted that I wasnt EVER going to use again.. Is there some easy way that I can find these obj files that no longer have any cr2 that are pointing to them any more? trying to clean up my machine a bit... (FINALLY made a CD backup of all my purchased items) thanks Darrin
