Subject: Placing poser animations into 3DSMax

is there any way that a 3DSMax newbie like me would easily (keyword: easily) take an animation I've made in poser and export it to 3dsmax, then render the animation there? SewerRat

Generic way for any 3D app: 1)Make Poser avi in full color 2)Make same avi, but only in 'Mask' display mode & render mask.avi in display mode (in render settings requester). 3a)Can composite in Premiere using a 'tracking matte' with the mask.avi as a tracking matte, or 3b)Map the avi to a flat plane perpindicular to the 3dsMax camera. Use the mask avi as a tranparency map/mask on the same plane the color avi is mapped to. For best results, use maximum quality/Minimum compressio (if any) on the mask avi. Place the flat 3ds plane anywhere into any 3DS scene. Be sure to watch the light intensity, color & angles to match the Poser avi to the 3DS scene

thanks =) but... I was more hoping for a way to actually put the poser 3d objects into max and render them there that's not possible at all? SewerRat

Yes. Simply use Poser's export function. Not sure how well the textures cross over, cause I don't have Max yet. You lose the motion cababilty of the PZ3 file, unless you export it as a bvh file from poser, & into Max Pack

I am programming a poser "plug-in" to export poser character animations into MAX and 3ds4 perfectly. Email me at konan@spacemoose.com and I will keep you posted.

p.s. The process has been prototyped and it works great!
