Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2026 Jun 01 7:15 am)

Subject: Cloth Room ? -- Why is it taking sooooooooooo long for a sim to complete?

Ok, Poser peeps, I've got a question and that is, this morning I converted a conforming dress in the Fitting Room to a dynamic prop for LF2. Per Hborre's suggestion in another thread I started, I simply clicked on 'Spawn prop' since the conforming dress fitted LF2 perfectly and didn't need to be fitted.

But the issue is that the sim in the Cloth Room is taking an intolerably long time to complete (well over an HOUR!) and I'm puzzled as to why. Could it be because the skirt of the dress is pleated? Or maybe it has too many polygons or something? I've gotten very good (in my opinion anyway) with the ins and outs of the Cloth Room and rarely have issues, but this one has me stumped. I had it set for 30 frames, by the way. Thanks for your help in advance. Here's a screenshot of the dress on LF2:

If the skirt is pleated, you will have many collision points throughout the mesh during the simulation. That will increase calculation time, thus making a longer simulation. What collision settings are you using? Do you have self-collision activated?

BTW, which produce are you converting?

Hborre, that makes a lot of sense about the pleats making for a prolonged sim. I used the cloth self-collision for this, and no draping. This is the Ursula dress which hasn't yet been released to the Freestuff area due to issues with the MAT files.

I figured out why the sim was taking soooo long and it was because it kept going into a previous pose that I had applied before changing the pose to a different one. I had to quit out of Poser and then re-run the sim, and this time it worked beautifully and in much less time too. By the way, the Ursula Dress is now in the Freestuff area as a conforming figure. Here's a screenshot of it after running the sim:

That's better. It will be interesting to see how it behaves in P14 Poser Cloth.
