Subject: Daz3D inclusivity.

Daz3D's commitment to inclusivity is commendable, but in my opinion, it goes too far. There seems to be a kind of reverse sexism among the developers, who insist on offering the most generic and bland male characters imaginable. If the selection were more balanced, I wouldn't mind, but for every 20 female characters, there's only one male, often with an unrealistic physique. It took several years before a male character with a decent physique appeared in Daz's catalog. I understand that choosing a unisex mesh, better suited to a female body, complicates the accurate representation of male anatomy. This choice is dictated by demand and, ultimately, profitability. It's a shame, because no other 3D software offers as many possibilities as Daz Studio. It's high time the developers broadened their concept of beauty and gained a better understanding of male anatomy.

While I agree with you on some aspects, like many a few years back I wasn't keen on the G9 series of characters. The figures seemed much more convoluted with more thing being separated, such as eyes & mouth. And yet another morphing syntax.

But my conversion started with G9 wardrobe and the newer Fit scripts I think. Simulations seemed to go smoother, and as I picked things apart & examined what was what, I found that much was actually simpler and easier to work with. dForce Strand-Based hair is still hit & miss, but I'm starting to get a handle on that. I export everything out of DAZ, but using more of the tools within Daz for preparation prior these days.

I'm up to nearly a dozen G9 Characters now. The figures are looking great, otherwise I wouldn't be getting them. You just have to be selective, place what strikes you on your wish list & wait.

They use different UV's of course, so the texture mapping is different, but using better techniques I guess. The Pose conversion script from G3 & G8 to G9 is easy to use & nearly flawless.

I do agree that there are probably less male characters but that has always been the case since I first started back in 2005. I seen many threads over they years complaining about lack of items for male characters.

I actually think that when Genesis(the original figure) was first introduced we saw an increase in clothing for men, the problems with the original genesis was the autofit was not as good as what it is now with Genesis 9. With better autofit switching between the characters on Genesis 9 has meant the clothing switches more smoothly that what it used to.

I think where Genesis 9 has problems is with the posing. I've seen many people complain about problems with posing the figure.

I personally like the ability of a figure to switch from female to male and back again. I like the versatility and the fact that clothing is a lot less expensive as you don't have to buy the same outfit for a different figure.

These days I use multiple figures but I do like Genesis 9. I'm still sorting thru my runtime and trying to ensure that money spent on older items is wasted as the new best thing comes along. I also find that Daz Studio allows me to create things myself with relative ease compared to the older system I really like the genesis platform and what it allows you to do. I think it's a shame that the alternate mapping and clones aren't included in Genesis 9 like they were in the original genesis but we are lucky enough that people with the skills have filled that gap.

Having recently fitted a dress to a pose on V4 it's made me appreciate the ease which the newer figures provide. It's so, so much easier.
