Subject: Dawn 2

Hi

Very much like Dawn 2 as a figure but I have to say the lack of support is beyond baffling. Ergo, there is no conforming clothing whatsoever, practically no

footwear and because very few vendors support the figure, not all tastes will be covered.

Frustratingly, this is a symptom of Poser figures as a whole and with respect to Dawn 2, there was even more support for P6 Jessi and others. Also, if very little content is created, the little that is, will often be for certain themes like contemporary fashion etc...

Naturally, once a Crossdresser license becomes available, it will open up clothing options that just aren't there now. The trouble is, nobody can say when that will be.

And then there are freebies.

They used to be great help.

Well, I checked on Miraheze but there wasn't even as yet a page on Dawn 2, which is only surprising because the figure has actually been out quite a while now.

So, do you think there is still a future for the figure? I mean as I say, there was more support even for the various Poser figure itterations, Sixus's Scarlet or Adman.

Up to now, I doubt that there will ever be a Crossdresser license. Like you, I am very disappointed in its support. However, you can morph her to a Dawn SR and convert clothing in that manner. But, you need to go through the extra steps to achieve a perfect fit.

Well, on the "Crossdresser" front, I did get the following message from Andy Wittrock of Evilinnocense.

"...We don't have an ETA for our next round of XD support, but we have had requests for La Femme 2 and Dawn 2, so they are on our list. :)

- Andy"

This message was from December/January and I believe it is Andy who is also the main EI developer. Like you I do have my doubts, partially because I get the feeling

that all things Poser/Daz are currently very slow and Dawn2 has not nearly gotten the attention, the figure should have. I mean Dawn2 far surpasses Dawn1 and Hivewire's figures are always fantastic.

I think one of the reasons for my exasperation is one of those times. Bought some character/skins for Dawn 2 by the ever dependable Tempesta3d which were excellent, set up some dynamic clothing, a scene and then.... then stopped. It was all too spartan and poor. The character had no shoes and I was trying to do a fantasy style visualisation, without content to choose from. It felt forced. And Dynamics need more time to set up.

So, I then had to break off.
For example, using my Crossdresser License for LaFemme, I have been able to convert a good amount of Daz Generation3 clothing with great results. Some of that was made to such a high standard that it matches much of what is made today. Mind you, I have taken to batch upscaling the odd older texture, just to take it up a notch. Daz occasionally sell off their V3/D3/M3/SP3 gear for about two dollars/Euros and to me, that is bargain. Because it is visually different and refreshing, LaFemme and L'Homme get quite a lot of this more vintage wardrobe.
Naturally the same is true of V4/M4 clothing but I find many people don't realise how good some of the conforming clothing was.

And lastly, hitting the snag with Dawn 2 also means that I will resort to Genesis 1 or 2 that I have converted to Poser including what wardrobe I have. It's ultimately about the render idea and often, it's one of those days and hours of tinkering later, you realise you should have chosen another figure or set or...

A "Crossdresser" license would be a game changer for both Dawn2 and LaFemme2. I hope we won't have to wait too long.

I am however a bit surprised that even the Dawn1 vendor stalwarts like PowerAge have been slower with Dawn2. What I mean by that is, the absence of even footwear packages and wardrobe bundles is very noticeable, (even if the majority will be contemporary themed)

I agree that support for Dawn 2 is lacking.

I personally convert lots of things from one character to another in terms of clothing. All of my clothing freebies for Dawn 2 are currently DS only which I'm trying to learn how to convert them to Poser and I am making slow progress. Conforming is slow in DS as she didn't come with any clothing templates. I am working on this so that it is easier to create conforming clothing but it takes time. I currently have working templates for short and long hair which I'm reasonably happy with. I started with the easy items first as they are quickest and I have a very bare bones template for pants also.

My character morphs are being converted to injections files for use in Poser.

That said my time is limited at the moment as I have my son's wedding coming up early April but I am planning on doing more items for her but it all takes time.

I would love to see more support for her, she is a really lovely figure.

Yesterday, I looked around because for many previous figures, there were quicksuits (such as by Morphography) and interestingly enough quick-dresses and checking

on Miraheze, there were similar creations for most if not all figures. But there is nothing whatsoever for Dawn2, which strikes me as strange.

Indeed, the situation with Dawn2 is odd. By this time, you would expect there to at least be basic, generic conforming clothing such as footwear or bodysuits but when it comes

to conforming clothing, there is deafening silence. And it is still the majority kind of clothing sold for other figures, despite a preference among some for dynamics.

Yesterday, I looked for a vaguely remembered video of either Z-Brush or Blender, where someone did a quick bodysuit for a figure in a series of clicks but have to admit that I didn't much fancy attempting modelling again. Most of the UV unwrapping and work never got the results I know from poser and Daz products.
