Subject: Dawn2 and clothing

GGreen ( ) posted Mon, 15 December 2025 at 4:55 PM · edited Sun, 24 May 2026 at 6:58 PM

Dawn2 was on sale a couple of days ago and I grabbed it. I wanted to support HiveWire.

There is not much to choose from as for clothing and shoes.

Can Dawn2 wear Dawn clothing and shoes?

I haven't had time to test her but wanted some input from those that have tested her.

Are there products that will make it easier to use clothing designed for other figures with her and are they worth the money?

She can't wear Dawn's clothes. I usually use Poser's fitting room for converting, but that's not for everyone.

Available on Amazon for the Kindle E-Reader Monster of the North and The Shimmering Mage

Today I break my own personal record for the number of days for being alive.
Check out my store here or my free stuff here
I use Poser 13 and win 10

That is really sad because there is not much out there for her.  Wonder if Evilinnosence will make a crossdresser module for her.

I'm assuming you're using Poser ... do you have experience in the Cloth Room? Most figures' dynamic clothing will work with Dawn2; you just have to make some size adjustments, usually on the Z- and X-axes. If there is poke-through, that's not an issue as the clothing will drape over the body parts. Just be sure to set the collision parameters prior to running the simulation, and everything will fall into place.

I use both Daz and Poser, but prefer Daz.

Wonder what type of marketing strategy was used for Dawn2,  very few clothing, or any other items? Before purchasing her I fell to realize that there was very little for her. What was the purpose of a Dawn2 figure?

There were people involved with the development who passed on.  So there are things that were planned that never came to be.  There are some things still in development, but those creators are experiencing health issue that has delayed their work.

The New HD Toaster from Wamco toasts bread more evenly and acurately than Standard Toasters. Take advantage of the FULL resolution of your bread and try one today, because if your toast isn't in High Definition, you are not getting the most of your toast!

OK, wishing a speedy recovery for all of the ones that are having health issues.

Waiting, it seems it's possible to adapt some clothes to her

(I don't own Dawn 2, just saw that in the gallery recently)

Those images in the gallery were rendered in DAZStudio, and it might be easier to autofit garments from other Genesis figures.

Hi,

Thanks Aelin for pointing me towards this thread.

If you are using DS4 you can do some autofitting of clothing from Dawn SE as there is a clone for her included in Dawn 2.

Unfortunately there wasn't any weightmapping templates included with her which would have made it easier to make clothing and also convert clothing to her.

It doesn't stop it being possible though. You can still use the clone to convert items it will take the weightmapping from Dawn 2 which isn't always successful but can work quite well with shorter dresses. Add in a smoothing modifier and even occasionally a push modifier on a really low setting(.oo3) and it's amazing what you can achieve.

Hair is often a good place to start I've found.

That said I have started to work on creating Templates for her which I will put up in the freebie section here when finished.

In regards to Poser and DS both have dynamic clothing options which will work with many items.

Also, if you have access to a 3D modeller it requires very little modelling to convert a lot of clothing for her. It's mainly moving it forward and some minor pokethru which needs to be addressed in DS you can send it back and rather than creating a morph you have an option for updating the mesh which is what I do and then saving it specifically for Dawn 2. If there is enough interest I can write tutorial of the process I use and upload it to a thread over at Hivewire. If you want to see what I have been doing and my comments on the process you can find me here.

I have played with many items some I had already converted to Dawn SE others I hadn't.

I have made some freebie morphs and also clothing for her. More will come it will just take me some time.

I'm currently converting a dress I did for Genesis and Dawn. More will follow hopefully...

I would happily convert DS morphs to Poser but still trying to work out the process. Miss B who used to provide a lot of the Poser knowledge is unfortunately not with us anymore. I miss her greatly for many reasons.

Clothing I find much harder and have yet to manage but I do find Dawn 2 even more pretty than the original Dawn and will be making things for her and probably also for Genesis 9.

What I can transfer to Poser I will but might need some help as Poser tends to make my brain melt.

Just a final note: If converting shoes it is way better to use the transfer utility than autofit as autofit mucks up the bones for some reason.

This is a v4 hair using my autofit template for shoulder length hair which is a wip.

I had already converted it to Dawn so I attempted to convert it using my template(it isn't finished yet) .Bend the head forward I was able to adjust the snakes using original morphs from the model. I want to provide JCM's so even if there aren't morphs you will still be able to use a hair.

I was quite pleased with how it converted though.

I will be looking for testers for the templates when done. Please let me know if you're interested in helping.

Okay, I was sitting and thinking it's a shame that Poser users can't use autofit and a Dawn clone and it occured to me that there may be a way.

Chris included a Dawn SE morph in the figure. Now iirc Poser has a function that can copy a morph?

Is it possible to use this function to get the clothing onto Dawn 2 in Poser? Maybe someone who can use Poser better than I can could tell me if this would work or not?
