In that situation, a point light with inverse-square attenuation would be appropriate. Trying to find a PBR texture with emission properties will wash out the image. You want to preserve the mood without losing detail in the background. That's where Blackbody lighting will help maintain the flame's warm glow.
Maybe something like that?

Maybe some transparency is missing: often, fake flames are a bitmap with a transparency.Y-Phil posted at 12:43 PM Thu, 8 May 2025 - #4495868
This is basically resulting in an actual light source without looking like a fire at all.Maybe something like that?

I'm using this kind for light bulbs, for example.Oh it probably was that, the Firefly shader looked like it had transparency. I just made that part of the asset invisible and added the SM3D props.
I am totally saving your shader setup for other flames though--thank you kindly!

I have been reworking the shaders on a couple of mausoleums, exchanging the textures for PBR SuperFly rendering. The rendered image below has one 60% blackbody infinite light in addition to an ambient-light HDRI. The mausoleum on the right was completely reworked from its original build. I used the Group Editor to create new material zones and applied PBR textures downloaded from FreePBR. With the introduction of the RGB Colorramp node in the latest version of P13, I could apply the Cycles ambient occlusion node to the shaders of both models and improve the shadows in the render. As a note, I don't know if anyone noticed, but you can now see Cycles texturing in the Preview window.
Fantastic pictures, hborre.

These look amazing! You guys do some of the coolest things. I've been away from Poser for so long I don't even know how to use it anymore. I want a hobby other than playing video games (I'm 50, lol), but I'm so overwhelmed by the possibilities of Poser I get decision paralysis and end up stopping. I still need to DL all my assets from the other site so I can use it with Poser. Perhaps that will be a good starting point. I really miss making 3D art.Β

Which adds a new level of compatibility with numerous Blender-oriented tutorials, even if many Blender-specific nodes are missing.
Example: procedural wood:
There is a thread full of examples for the PrincipledBSDFΒ node. Even if it has been written for Poser12, it remains a valuable source of information to start with.

The vector displacement, principled volume, and mix closure weight nodes were also added in P13. I'm not sure which versions these were all added but none are in P12

Is there any simple way to learn how to use it in Poser, as it's so different in Blender? The mix closure weight node was added recently.Β The others were added at least 2 versions earlier.

@hborre - I was never able to cleanly render these scenes before, but using GPU/Optix in Superfly, they crystallize fully and in a fraction of the time.Β
