Subject: Saving and using DAZ format props in Poser without needing DSON anymore?

Coleman ( ) posted Tue, 03 March 2015 at 5:40 PM · edited Mon, 25 May 2026 at 12:15 AM

There are some great looking scene props made recently, but are only available in DAZ 4+ format or with using the DSON Importer.

I don't really want to have the DSON thingy constantly running just for a static prop. Is one able to save a imported DAZ prop in Poser as a PP2 or CR2 and then use it without the DSON running?

If not... is it possible to import the prop into Poser, save the textures as a whole material set... then export the prop out of DAZ as an OBJ and import into Poser... then apply the saved shaders???

How do all use DAZ static props in Poser?

Thanks!

Easiest is to export it from Studio.  Load the item and use Export on the File menu.  It will ask for the format to export it in and path information; it's pretty self explanatory...

Use the Poser preset in the export options and, assuming it was correctly scaled to start with, it will be the right size imported into Poser - well, for the old 1 unit = 8 feet scale anyway, but a lot of the Poser figures are made that way (including the DAZ people).
