Hi, I have been tryign to create a transparency map for the V4 flight attendant skirt but had no joy!!

I have tried black stripes at the bottom of the skirt texture (to make it shorter) but everytime I set the transparency to 100%, all the skirt disappears...

Is there a good tutorial on transpaency maps...

Thank you very much for your help...

Cheers

Does the TOTAL disappearance of the item with transparency happen (note this) AFTER you RENDER?

When you apply the transparency map and set it to 1.0, the item in question **will disappear (if you do not render).
**
The areas in white will show when you render, and stick around after you do. (At least it does for me.)

I use ShaderSpider and do a 1-2 approach.(ShaderSpider is available at Daz, but if you are new to Poser then tool around a bit in the material room, by all means visit  Dr. Geep and Poser University and get used to how things work before making the purchase of ShaderSpider)

  1. I set up my materials and transparencies using the Right-Click>Select All>Right-Click>Apply-to-all (I find my clothed character goes nude here)
  2. Use ShaderSpider to Apply to All again and everything is back with transparencies in place.
(It is a bit redundant, but I try to keep the nude figures on screen to a minimum to consider others passing by :) . Sometimes I'm not ready to render then.)

Thanks guys....

I had totally forgotten about the rendering aspect of the poser which captures the transparency map correctly!!!

I haven't used shaaderspider but from your note it appears to be the ticket to see the transparency map effects under preview window....

Will look it up..... thnak you very much for the heads up..... much appreciated... :c))))

Cheers
