Here is an image. I feel like everything is still upside down with the "takeover". Seems like everyone is modeling with Hex2 (including myself) and not posting WIPs here. So, here is something I'm playing around with. Hope you all enjoy.

Daz has it's own forum for Carrara and Hexagon users unfortunately.

It amazes me how many companies have been involved with Carrara.  Lets see, first it was Ray Dream Studio and Metacreations owned it, then Eovia and now Daz.  I think there was another one also back in the RDS days.  I am just starting to try and learn Hexagon.  I normally don't have the patience for vertex modelers and just use the spline modeler in C5Pro, but I figure I might as well spend some time and learn it so I can do some more intricate designs.

Nothing to miss...

Carrara has been passed around like a floozy. Ray Dream by Fractal Design, then Fractal Design by MetaTools, then the acquisition of Carrara and incorporation of Eovia, the acquisition of Eovia by TGS, then TGS by Mercury System, and the Eovia spin-off from TGS!!! :-)

I don't really care as long as DAZ can continue to develop the Hexagon and Carrara tools.

Agreed.  When Metacreations jumped out of 3D and left Bryce, Carrara and didn't it own Poser at the time, too? -- I was frustrated.  I was happy when Eovia eventually picked up the ball and ran like Forest Gump with it -- taking it to new heights of pro application standards.

Here's hoping that DAZ doesn't drop the ball with it.  Yes, Carrara and Hexagon can be used to make props and clothing for Poser, but there's SO much more to these packages.  Let's hope DAZ doesn't forget that!

I think they should concentrate on integrating the character modeling capabilities of DAZ Studio into Carrara, that would make it a true one stop package for every kind of modeling.  Well maybe they should also Improve the terrain and landscaping capabilities as well.  But they have all the pieces, now all they have to do is put them together.

Terrain and landscaping capabilities are quite good already. Most people just don't know 3D well enough to take advantage of them.

Yes they are good, but not quite up to the level of something like Terragen or Mojoworld.

I'm still trying to have a handle on the landscape, as you can see from my image above.  Not very realistic.  Speed and know-how is the key for me.  I need to be able to create what I've got running around in my head quickly, because I don't have a lot of time to fart around anymore.  If Daz works to make the process easier:  modeling with Hex and Carrara, pulling in poses, premade figures/models, and animations from Poser,  and rendering - I'm happy.  It takes time to jump back and forth from Poser to Carrara.  I love to model in Hex and Carrara, but I just can't pass up the easy and already made models - especially the human figures and NEW vehicles from Daz.  I don't have a need for a vehicle now, but a few look tempting.
